These are the numbers verified by AAPP. The actual numbers are likely much higher. We will continue to update accordingly.
According to monitoring by the Documentation and Research Department of AAPP, in recent weeks, the junta has blatantly committed various war crimes and crimes against humanity against civilians. Civilians are being killed, injured, and forced to flee for safety due to the junta’s use of airstrikes, artillery and firearm shootings, raids, and arson attacks.
The junta has been resorting to excessive force, attacking without distinguishing between military or civilian targets, whether during clashes, after clashes, or even in the absence of ongoing clashes. Airstrikes have resulted in civilian casualties in states and regions across the country, including Kani Township, Pale Township, Tigyaing Town, Khampat Town, Tamu Town and Kyunhla Township in Sagaing Region, Namhkan Township and Namhsan Town in Shan State, Samee Town and Kyin Dway Town in Chin State, Kyaukkyi Township in Bago Region, Seikphyu, Pauk, and Saw Townships in Magway Region, and Mrauk-U Town in Rakhine State. Moreover, schools, religious buildings, and houses have been destroyed and burnt down in those attacks, leading to thousands of locals fleeing for safety.
Additionally, junta forces have been firing artillery shells across the country, including Monywa Township in Sagaing Region, Momauk Township in Kachin State, Madaya Township in Mandalay Region, and Myebon, Ponnagyun and Maungdaw Townships in Rakhine State, resulting in the deaths and casualties of civilians, including children and houses burning down.
Furthermore, junta forces launched an offensive in Pale, Ye-U, and Tabayin Townships in Sagaing Region, stationing themselves there. As a result, 15,000 locals had to flee for safety. Arson attacks in Myaing Township in Magway Region and Kanbalu Township in Sagaing Region have led to the destruction of houses, forcing thousands of locals to flee for safety.
AAPP will continue to inform on verified daily arrests, charges, sentences, and fatalities in relation to the attempted coup, and update the lists with details of these alleged offenses.
